About | Pupil & Slate | Glen Rock, NJ

At Pupil & Slate, we believe your vision care should be as unique as you are. Located in the heart of Glen Rock, NJ our practice was founded on a simple premise: to blend advanced medical eye care with the warmth, attention, and style of a neighborhood boutique.

We take a comprehensive approach to your eye health. Using state-of-the-art technology, our thorough exams look beyond just your prescription to evaluate the complete health of your eyes, helping protect your sight for years to come. But high-tech diagnostic tools are only half the equation—the other half is time. We proudly maintain a slow, patient-first pace, taking the time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and tailor every recommendation to your individual lifestyle.

Central to our approach is a strong commitment to patient education. Preventative care is the single most effective way to protect your long-term vision, and prevention starts with understanding. We take the time to explain your test results in plain, clear language, discuss how daily habits impact your eyes, and empower you with the knowledge needed to make confident decisions about your eye health. When you understand the why behind your care, staying proactive becomes effortless.

That same dedicated focus carries into our optical boutique. We believe finding the perfect pair of glasses should be an inspiring experience, not an overwhelming chore. Our optical features a carefully curated collection of independent, handcrafted eyewear brands chosen for their exceptional quality, design, and durability. Guided by our experienced opticians, you’ll receive personalized styling to find frames that fit your facial structure and authentically reflect your personality, paired with precision lenses suited to your visual demands.

Whether you are visiting us for a routine annual exam, managing a specific eye condition, or looking for your next favorite pair of glasses, Pupil & Slate is here to ensure you see clearly, look exceptional, and feel genuinely cared for every step of the way.

Welcome to personalized eye care. We look forward to meeting you.

Our Philosophy

What guides
everything we do

Clinical Depth

Every examination is thorough. We use advanced diagnostic tools and take the time to understand your history, your lifestyle, and your vision goals.

Intentional Design

Pupil & Slate is built around the idea that a medical environment shouldn't feel clinical. Every detail — from the dispensary to the exam chair — is considered.

Long-Term Relationships

We're not a retail chain. We're a small, independent practice where you'll always see the same doctor and be known by name.

Honest Recommendations

We recommend what's right for your eyes, full stop. No upselling. No pressure. Just clear guidance you can trust.
